Use Your Dental Benefits Or Lose Them

Were you aware that your dental insurance benefits typically are lost on the last day of the year if you don’t use them? In other words, if you have not used the full amount of your dental benefits by December 31, 2018 you will lose them, and not be able to claim there as soon as 2019 rolls around the next day. This is called “Use it or Lose it.”

Imagine for a minute that your dental insurance company planted a garden for you filled with dollars that grow out of the ground. Each time you use their dental benefits you essentially are harvesting the dollars and using them to nourish your dental health. However, at the end of 2018, if you still have dollars in your “garden” you do not get to harvest them. You dental insurance company harvests all of your money and keeps it for themselves.
